Flying business class on PR655 from Riyadh to Manila for the first time will sadly or better gladly also be the last time.

Plane was an airbus 330/300 seating in business class were 2 seat abreast on either side as well as two adjacent seats in the middle. The level of the seats when extended as bed was different, aisle seat 30cm off the floor and window seat about 1 m.
That was required to enable passengers to climb over each other when the nature demands a visit to the toilet. Needless to say that this exercise was everything but easy, if not impossible to live without possibly banging Into the sleeping or resting neighbor

The width of the seats and the overall space available clearly identifies the route flown as Filipino overseas worker express, and cannot be categorized as a comfortable travel experience. The emphasis was clearly on max passenger numbers rather than having comfort in mind.

The seats were narrow and the upholstery has seen better days, the length of the seats extended in sleeping mode were suitable for smaller passengers but not passengers above 180cm.

The lack of inflight entertainment and internet, as offered on any other airline, clearly supports my statement earlier, that this aircraft is as cheap people hauler for disregarding creature comfort.
Flying 9 1/2 to 10 hours in cramped conditions is everything but pleasant hence my recommendation to choose airlines who respect their customer base and accommodate long haul passengers in style, cleanliness and as said many times, comfort

I was informed that the Middle East routes with Philippine airlines are all as described, the US and Canada flights however seem to respect the travelers and offer the relaxation airlines ommonly provide.

The routes to and from the Middle East are better served by other airlines than Philippine.

Very detailing trip reports. BTW I’m travelling to Sydney this Middle December 2020. Just booked PAL Business Class and it shows A330 with 1-2-1 seats configuration. Is this the new PAL Business Class seats?

Most of PAL’s aircrafts are from Airbus. hope PAL also considers purchasing other jets from Boeing and Mitsubishi Regional Jets. They need to lessen there propeller fleets due to all of a sudden bad weather changes during monsoon seasons. Not very safe for flying.

I am heavily versed long haul traveller LHR-MNL. Never in the past used PH as when they reintroduced European leg fist committing 777-300ER to LHR over from USA for a couple of weeks (to get peoples attention) then moved over to the extremely tired A340 ex Iberia which was a complete joke 12-15hrs…. Cabin crew not happy, service levels on board not happy. HOWEVER…… This month for the first time I did direct 🙂 (LHR-MNL) onto -BKK-MNL-LHR. A350 pure flat LHR 2200hrs MNL 1830hrs. In my opinion business class PH is pure first class. The product is first class and more importantly the experience courtesy of the crew is 1st class. The Middle East heavy weight carriers has dominated LHR-MNL too long. With the latest product available direct, I feel with price consciousness on Economy too they may be able to introduce a 2nd daily on Mon/Wed/Fri leaving the other days as 1 per day. This way they can concentrate on increasing transit traffic Australian Leg/ SE Asia via Manila.

I have been reading some other forums and people are saying that the inner seats are even numbers. But I read another one its odd (like yours).

Which is which? hahah I need to choose the seats carefully to Manila. LOL
