6 Cream-of-the-Crop Sunday Brunches in Singapore Worth Splurging For

The mother of all buffets – Sunday brunches have practically become synonymous to lazy (but indulgent) afternoons spent feasting on delicious seafood and downing glasses of champagne. Plenty of venues in Singapore offer Sunday brunches. I’ve tried quite a few and these are my favorites:

Edge – Pan Pacific Singapore

The most extensive Sunday brunch in Singapore – If variety is what you are after, you won’t go wrong with Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore. The buffet features several live stations with cuisines ranging from Malay to Chinese to Indian and of course, Singaporean.

Exquisite desserts – The dessert counter here could very well stand on its own as a buffet! Don’t miss the chewy Japanese mochi hidden at the rear section of the dessert counter while you get carried away with various types of kueh, matcha waffles as well as the likes of Thai iced tea-flavored ice cream.

Longest Sunday brunch in Singapore – If you prefer to eat at a leisurely pace, Sunday brunches at Edge are 4 hours long to ensure you’ll be able to try as many counters as you like.

Mezza9 – Grand Hyatt Singapore

A buffet with ala-carte qualities – Mezza9 isn’t really a buffet restaurant and it is only for Sunday brunch that the restaurant unveils its live stations. Naturally, the food is also not the typical mass-produced buffet quality that you’d expect elsewhere which is great for people with discerning taste buds.

Food you won’t find elsewhere – The Thai section deserves props for being there, a rarity where Singapore buffets are concerned. Likewise, the Japanese section doesn’t end with your typical sushi and sashimi. You also get skewers of yakitori grilled ala minute. If that’s not unique enough, check out the nitrogen cream puffs at the dessert section.

Seafood is sustainably sourced – So that you’ll know the fish you’re eating doesn’t come from questionable places.

Ash & Elm – InterContinental Singapore

One of the most reasonably-priced champagne brunches around in a luxury hotel – $138 per person inclusive of Perrier Jouet champagne sounds like a good deal in a scene where $200 per person for Sunday brunches is the norm.

Feast on caviar – For a truly decadent experience, there are plenty of types of caviar at Ash & Elm to accompany your blinis.

Best desserts – Among all the Sunday brunches I’ve tried, the desserts here at Ash & Elm are probably my favorite. Pastry Chef Ben Goh makes desserts that are not only fantastic to look at but also very easy on the tummy.

Oscar’s – Conrad Centennial Singapore

Sunday brunch for the health-conscious – While there is enough food to go around, Oscar’s is special for having a clear focus on healthy options. The salad section deviates from your usual lettuce and dressing affairs to bring several “inspired” creations involving both Asian and Western ingredients such as Manuka honey, tofu, avocado, quinoa and even lotus root. As if that’s not enough, there are also health-centric smoothies to go along with your food.

London duck – The centerpiece of the carving station here (along with the Filipino Lechon) is the Roast London Duck – a succulent affair that will definitely make you come back for seconds.

Gin and Tonic – For something different from your champagne or bloody mary, the dedicated gin and tonic section is inspired from Conrad Centennial Singapore’s highly popular happy hour at the lobby bar.

Brasserie les Saveurs – St. Regis Singapore

The most decadent Sunday brunch in Singapore – It goes without saying that Brasserie les Saveurs, with its tall ceiling and live band, offers one of the most luxurious Sunday brunch experience in the city. The spread also doesn’t disappoint – 6 kinds of sashimi; cold seafood such as lobsters, scallops, various types of crabs as well as a selection of ala carte items such as steak round up this brunch experience.

Good for romantic dates – While a buffet is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to a lunch or dinner date, the venue is sure to impress with its crimson shade, French-style windows and relaxing live music.

It’s not just about the buffet – The brunch experience here is kind of like a ritual. It starts at with pre-dinner drinks and amuse bouche at the Astor Bar before transferring to the main dining hall. Once there, you’re greeted by an extensive ala-carte menu which will make you ponder on whether you have enough tummy space for the tempting buffet.

Kwee Zeen – Sofitel Sentosa Singapore

Dine with a sea view – This is probably the only Sunday brunch you can have in a hotel that comes with a seaview. Pick a window seat or a table outside for that sweeping Straits of Singapore vista.

The brunch for crab lovers – No less than 5 types of crabs here including Mud Crab, Dungeness Crab, Flower Crab, Alaskan Snow Crab leg and Brown Crab.

Foie gras made a la minute – Nuff said.
